Back home...

Well, we got home Thursday night at about 8:30 from our whirlwind trip "up north." We left later than we hoped on Monday and so didn't get to the cottage until about 1:30am Tuesday. Needless to say, we slept in Tuesday morning. The weatherman had predicted rain and storms every day but, except for a brief shower Tuesday, it was pretty nice. Of course, Thursday was the nicest day...

Lizzie and Rick did a great job cleaning and raking -- thanks, guys!

Stuff we did...

• moved leaves to the vacant lot (being careful of the plentiful poison ivy)


• cleaned off the roof (at least the major stuff)


• washed the skylights


• swept off the outsides of both cottages


• picked bags of garlic mustard


• got the cottage phone on the federal "do not call" list to prevent the 10,000 telemarketers from filling up the answering machine


• spent four hours Wednesday afternoon meeting with Caleb the architect about Driftwood details


• straightened things up and left notes for Kay and Co. who are arriving this weekend


• had a nice dinner with Judy and Greg who were not in Crete


• had some nice beachwalks -- and Susi got in swimming in Lake Mich!


• saw a gorgeous sunset Wednesday night, complete with dramatic clouds and alewives leaping into the air...
